Muslim fi Sijan: November 17, 2011 (Translations of Selected Hadith)

17 Nov

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Al-HamduLillah Rabbil Alamin, and the best of peace and blessings be on the Last Prophet Muhammad and his family, and all those who excellently follow him till the Last Day.

Translated Selections of Hadiths from Sahih Al-Jami’ As-Saghir wa Ziyadatuh, originally by Imam Jalalud-Din as-Suyuti, with the tahqiq of Shaykh Nasirud-Din al-Albani, may Allah have mercy on both of them. I have also decided to translate some of the sahih/hasan du’as that I found, that are not in the Hisn al-Muslim; some of the Du’as I’ve seen in other translated books of Du’as, but I did not know of their authenticity.

I also have come to notice that the copy I have of Sahih Al-Jami’ As-Saghir wa Ziyadatuh from al-Maktab al-Islami, 3rd Edition, 1408 H/1988 CE, has some typing mistakes, sometimes major. Wallahu A’lam. So perhaps someone can verify the translation with a better edition. May Allah accept this effort and bless it and make it beneficial for people, and success is only from Allah alone.

Wal-Hamdu Lillah Rabbil ‘Alamin, with Whose ‘Izzah, Jalal and Ni’mah good deeds are accomplished. May Allah accept this writing, and bless it and make it beneficial for people, and make it heavy in the scales of good deeds, of those who compiled the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ, taught them, translated them, and spread them. Indeed, Our Lord multiplies the good endlessly for whomsoever He wills, and may He make us amongst them.

Amin.

(Part One)

Narrated by Anas رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «Indeed, Allah is Rahim (Merciful, Compassionate), Hayyiy (Shy), and Karim (Generous, Noble, Kind) – He shies from His servant when he raises his two hands towards Him [in Du'a], and then not placing good in them
Sahih; Hadith #1768, pg. 363

Note: [i.e. Allah will not return those two hands empty, He will definately put good into the two hands raised to Him in Du'a]

Narrated ‘Amr ibn ‘Abasah رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: »The sun does not rise while there remains anything of the creation of Allah, except that it [every creature] glorifies (tasbih) Allah with His praise (hamd) – except the shayatin (devils) and the fools amongst the children of Adam
Hasan; Hadith #5599, pg. 980

Narrated Ibn ‘Amr رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «There is none on earth who will say: La Ilaha IllAllahu Wallahu Akbar, wa La Hawla wa La Quwwata illa Billah – except that it will expiate his sins, even if they are like the foam of the ocean
Hasan; Hadith #5636, pg. 985

Narrated by Az-Zubayr رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «Whoever desires to be pleased by his book [record of deeds], then let him do much therein of istighfar [seeking the forgiveness of Allah].»
Hasan; Hadith #5955, pg. 1033

Narrated ‘Ubadah رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «Whoever does istighfar for [on behalf of] the Believing men and women, Allah will record for him a hasanah (good deed) for each and every mu’min and mu’minah
Hasan; Hadith #6026, pg. 1042

Narrated Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqas رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «Indeed, Allah is Karim (Kind, Noble), and He loves the kind / noble [servants]; He is Jawwad (Always Generous), and He loves the generous [servants]. He loves ma’ali al-akhlaq [the lofty / honourable attributes / characteristics / manners], and He dislikes the lowly / despicable attributes / characteristics.»
Sahih; Hadith #1800, pg. 380

Narrated Sa’d رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «Will you be victorious, except through your du’afa’ (weak ones [i.e. the poor, oppressed, feeble, etc.]), through their supplications and their ikhlas (sincere purity of intention). »
Sahih; Hadith #7034, pg. 1182

Say: La Ilaha IllAllahul ‘Aliyyul ‘Adhim, La Ilaha IllAllahul Hakimul Karim, La Ilaha IllAllahu SubhanAllahi Rabbis Samawatis-Sab’i wa Rabbil ‘Arshil ‘Adhim, al-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil ‘Alamin
Sahih; Hadith #2621, pg. 511

Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas رضي الله عنهم the Prophet ﷺ said: «I am amazed at the sabr and karam (nobility), of my brother Yusuf, may Allah forgive him; when he was approached for the dream interpretation – if it were me, I would not have done so until I left (the prison). And I am amazed at his sabr and karam, may Allah forgive him, when he was summoned to leave, he did not leave until he notified them of his innocence; if it were me, I would have rushed to the door. And if it were not for the word he said when he sought relief from other than Allah, Mighty and Majestic, he would not have remained in prison
SahihHadith #3984, pg. 737-738.

Note: [Sh. Abu Qatadah حفظه الله mentioned that the Prophet ﷺ said this out of his awareness that his actions are a model for his Ummah, so he wanted to make it easier for his Ummah out of compassion for them; whereas Yusuf عليه السلام was at that time by himself, and took the stricter/firmer ('azimah) stance. And Allah knows best. Also see Tafsir al-Qurtubi, Tafsir Ibn Kathir, and Fi Zilal al-Qur'an, in the tafsir of Surah Yusuf: Verse 42]

Sahih; Hadith #2224, pg. 442

Narrated Ibn ‘Amr رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «The best (afdal) of the Believers in Islam are those from whom the Muslims are safe from his tongue and hand; and the best of the Believers in Iman is the most excellent of them in manners/conduct; and the best of the muhajirin (those who emigrate) are those who emigrate from that which Allah, Ta’ala, has forbidden; and the best Jihad is he who wages jihad against his own nafs (self) for the Face (Dhat) of Allah, ‘Azza wa Jall

Hasan; Hadith #2543, pg. 498

Ibn ‘Amr رضي الله عنه the Prophet ﷺ said: «Do not debate/argue regarding the Qur’an, for argumentation/debate (jidal) about it is kufr
