Mohamed Shnewer: May 22, 2012 (No Halal Food, No Salah in Jama, and continuous Harassment)

May 22, 2012

In The Name Of Allah Most Gracious Most Merciful

Assalamu Alaikum,

I appreciate your concern and continous effort to expose the conditions in the CMU. As for the justification given to prevent us from Halal food, they tell us that the vegetarian or Kosher trays are sufficient to meet my religious requirements. Which is of course a frivilous and false claim because we are’nt forbidden from eating meat, and the Kosher tray is a far cry from Halal. We have given them many different options on ways to provide us with Halal, yet they have refused every option we’ve put on the table. We told them we’ll buy it our selves, our families will provide the Halal food, the Mosques will provide it, but despite our best efforts we haven’t been able to get Halal food.

As for the congregational prayers, they have no excuse for it except that they hate and discriminate against Islam and Muslims. They allow every other type of congregation whether it be religious, social, or learning. They have blocked any effort for any Islamic learning as well. The Hunger Strike took place because of the ongoing harrasment and hostilities of the administration against the Muslim inmates. There were even non-Muslim inmates that participated because they were unhappy with the way the administration has been harrasing the Muslims. We came off of it, Alhamdulillah we were able to get some of our issues resolved. The harrasment is still ongoing, and we are working very hard to try to file a proper lawsuit in this matter.

Please highlight the facts that we aren’t being provided Halal food, congregational prayer, the ongoing harrasment of Muslims’, they are even trying to stop us from praying the Fajr prayer in our cell alone while we’re locked in. These are some of the issues I hope you can highlight. I’m not sure when the next time is that I can email, because I have been given two frivilous incident reports in retaliation for me trying to expose our situation in “GITMO North”.

May your efforts be fruitful. Thank you very much for your continued concern and effort over the conditions here.

Assalamu Alaikum,
Mohamed Shnewer

Mohamed Shnewer: April 05, 2012 (The Ongoing Injustices in The CMU)

Assalamu Alaikum.

We have an administration which are made up of religious bigots ignorant of understanding anything outside their beliefs. If their leader tells us Muslims that we don’t believe in God, so what do you expect their policies to be built upon. This administration is only a mirror of the bigger image of America’s policies as a whole towards Islam. In that the massacring of Muslims’, desecrating their bodies afterwards, burning Qura’ns’ and other Muslim Religious books, the destroying of Muslim houses of Worship, the entrapping of Muslims’ on a regular basis, the surveillance on Muslim houses of Worship with no reason, among other atrocities and violations against every code of conduct that are all well documented which need not be mentioned by me.

All this while Muslim organizations, foundations, and groups are silent in this country, and in fact are in the corner of the Government in many cases and occasions. The only help these organizations offer is to the government, and will show up to visit a defendant only to tell him to cooperate with the government.

We in the CMU, us Muslim inmates are being limited to any type of real communications to our families or friends as it is through their unjust policy, which is imposed on us. Even with the limitations already imposed on us, the administration still finds ways to tighten it on us even further. For example, I’ve been sick for the last two weeks and a half and I wasn’t able to sign up for my call, and when I was finally able only a day after it was due the administration refused to schedule my phone calls for a week. Despite that it’s routinely done for non-Muslims’ in the unit. This among many other violations that this administration repeatedly engages in. In other cases there have been fabricated incident reports and sanctions that have been withheld within this administration, then when it has gotten to the Regional office the fabricated incident report is expunged and we aren’t notified until our sanction is completely served. Mohamed Shnewer: October 17, 2011 (Seul Allah Connaît leur Situation)

Wa Al Salam alaikoum Wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuhu.

Assalamou alaikoum.

Votre frère en Islam,

Mohamed

Mohamed Shnewer: October 17, 2011 (Only Allah Knows their Situation)

Wa Alaikum Al Salam Wa Rahmatu Allah Wa Barakatu.

Alhamdulillah I as well as the other Brothers are doing good. May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala reward all of you for your efforts. May He accept all of your good deeds and forgive your short comings.

As for the funds, we ask Allah A’za Wa Jal to find a way for it to reach us and the others in need. Allah the All Mighty provides us from places we know not, Alhamdulillah that you Brothers and Sisters are trying to help us. In doing so Inshallah you’ll not only be helping us, but also our families, which only Allah knows their situation. May Allah ease their pain and hardship. May Allah repay the evil doers for the evil they’ve done. I ask Allah that they see their evil in everything which they do and everything they cherish. By Allah they’re the unjust ones’ talking about others injustice and speaking about other nations’ human rights and due process. What saddens’ me most is that unfortunately even some of the Muslims’ believe their lies and propaganda. Allahu Akbar.

I will not speak of this issue anymore it’s just a little difficult not to, especially when you’re in the middle of the injustice and you see and hear the news of the World. Just to let you know we don’t hold anything against you Brothers’ and Sisters’, as a matter of fact I just recieved a beautiful letter sent to me by you. To Allah We Belong and Indeed To Allah We Will Return. May Allah reward all of your efforts. Assalamu Alaikum.

Your Brother In Islam,

Mohamed

Mohamed Shnewer: April 2010

We, meaning myself and the Duka’s, were falsely accused, convicted, and are being held in some of the most terrible confinement conditions in the United States. The Duka’s are currently held in ADX Max which is in itself unconstitutional for the worse of criminals, let alone young men who have been wrongfully convicted by the FBI’s entrapment using false wittnesses.

The FBI is using agent provocateurs to entrap young Muslim youth in order to scare the American public from homegrown terrorism which is being made by the FBI’s own informants and for the most part doesn’t exist. The majority of these entrapment cases, if you actually take the time to look into the facts of the case, you will find that the main pushers of these cases are the prosecutors, FBI agents (who are the informant handlers), and the informants (usually criminals who are cooperating to get material gains or to be allowed to stay in the country). In these cases had there not been an informant pushing for action or provoking inflammatory statements there would be no case, nor would anyone have to worry about these young men because for the most part they might just need the proper mentoring and channeling of their youth. Most of these young men were entrapped by older informants whom they looked upto one way or another.

For example, in my case the informant was almost twice my age and because of our culture he would take advantage of me using the age card, because in my culture the younger are supposed to take guidance from the older generations and are supposed to respect and listen to our elders. In other cases some of the youth were being outkasted by their families and friends and only found the informants to take as friends and the FBI took advantage of that to scare the American public on the backs of the Muslim youth.

The biggest problem that we faced as Muslims falsely held is that from day 1 of the arrest till now, the confinement conditions for the most part are unbearable. When we were first arrested, we were placed in solitary confinement for 23hrs and only 1hr of recreation in a cage which isn’t suitable for a dog; the recreation is only given to us 5 days a week and only when the gaurds felt like pulling us out. It was extremely hard to prepare for trial for the following reasons:
1. The law library is very limited and lacked even the basic books in order to prepare or help prepare for trial.
2. We were only able to request legal materials from the main law library once a week.
3. There were almost daily abuses and violations made against myself and my co-defendants by the staff and administration at the FDC where our legal work and lawyer letters were being taken from us.

We, as Muslims that are being kept against our will and were kidnapped by the government from our families for their own gains and political agendas, are hopeful in that Allah wont forsake us and that Justice will be served by the Most Honorable. I’m sorry to say but those whom people call by ‘your honor’ are the very same ones who are responsible for the injustice in our cases and are the ones responsible for not stopping this injustice. The judges unfortunately are embarrased or have themselves political agendas and hopes for being moved up in status so they don’t stand for what they are supposed to. For example, a judge is there and entrusted to uphold Justice. Unfortunately today they are the ones making sure Justice isn’t served, especially when it comes to falsely accused Muslims. I ask everyone who has any sense of justice to read and look into these cases and truly look for justice. We are Muslims and yes, we have some political views which you may not agree with, you hold political views we don’t agree with, but it’s our right, as it is yours, to hold any political views which fit your beliefs.

To the families of those who have loved ones behind bars be patient after every hardship comes ease. Be patient and remember that to Allah we belong and to Allah we will return. We will have to answer in front of Allah for every word and action we have committed, whether good or bad, so increase from your good deeds lest Allah forgives you.

Salam
