US Mailing Lists Updated: These are Days of Golden Oppurtunities

During these blessed ten days of Dhul Hijj, we strive to weigh down our scales with that which is pleasing to our Lord.

An easy and fruitful way to increase in our beneficial deeds is to send Eid greetings to an imprisoned brother or sister. Addresses can be found here. To find out more about how you can deposit sadaqa directly into an inmate account, see here.

Wrenched from their families and communities, the ever increasing percentage of our Ummah confined behind bars will Insha’Allah appreciate this small token of brotherhood.

Of note in this month’s update is that our Smiling Somali has been transferred to New York, away from the only community he has ever known since his confinement in America.

Quazi Nafis (not listed) was arrested Wednesday in an entrapment scheme; his family lives in Bangladesh and will most likely be unable to see him.

After being assaulted by a guard and silenced in ADX five months ago, Ahmed Ajaj has returned to USP Marion where the attack took place, along with former Marion residents Ehsanul Sadequee and Wali Shah.

Ismail Royer has been moved out of Florence ADX along with Adham Hassoun.

Ziyad Yaghi is launching an appeal to his conviction and may finally be out of isolation.

Rezwan Ferdaus will be sentenced on November 1 and is expected to receive a 17 year term and is currently being housed in the Wyatt Detention Center.

Although Abu Hamza is only allowed to use his prosthetics for a limited time daily, he is to be fitted with new arms at an unknown time in the future.

It’s unclear how Mustafa copes during the times he’s without his fake limbs. He has appeared in court handless and helpless, the rounded ends of his arms — both cut off shortly after the elbows — in plain sight.

Jose Padilla has been transferred to Miami perhaps in connection with ongoing lawsuits concerning torture although an appeal was rejected earlier this summer.

Nidal Hasan will face court martial for the 2009 shooting at a military base after an appeals court ruled that his beard will be forcibly shaved for the trial.

Colleen LaRose faces a possible life sentence in December after pleading guilty over a year ago.

Mahamud Said Omar, extradited from the Netherlands, is the first Somali to go to trial (another 11 or so plead guilty) in the ethnically targeted sweep known as “Operation Rhino.” He was found guilty on 5 counts and faces a life sentence although no sentencing date was set.

18 year old Mohammad Hassan Khalid pleaded guilty earlier this year, and will be sentenced in late November facing a 15 year sentence; his family has been visibly absent at court proceedings.

The trial for drug-related charges for Amir Muhaddith (aka Loon) has been moved from October to December.

Trial for Imam Abu Taubah has been postponed indefinitely.

As always, remember them and their families in your duas, and be sure to let us know of any returned mail, incorrect addresses, missing prisoners, or updates you would like to share.

Ehsanul Sadequee: May 22, 2012 (Handball)

Tuesday, May 22, 2012

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
Al-Hamdulillahi Rabbi A’lamin

As Salamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu

Dear Amma, Abba and Family,

I just got your mail today.  How are you all doing? Al-Hamdulillah, I’m doing good by the Grace of Allah Azz Wajaal.  I pray to Allah that you all are doing good by His Care and Ni’mah.

This is our 19th day here so far. Last week they moved in the other Muslim from Marion who came here with me.  Now we are cellies. Al-Hamdulillah. We used to be on the same range at Marion too. SubhanAllah, how amazing is the Decree of Allah, he arrived at Marion just a day before I did, and when Allah decreed, we left on the same day. Wal-Hamdulillah.

We go out for recreation on the weekdays for 1 hour. We just played ‘hand ball’ today. It’s when you hit the ball with the palm of the hand to hit against the wall, taking turns, one hit a turn.

As for the food here,  by the Grace of Allah, Al-Hamdulillah, it’s better than Marion. We’re also allowed to get commissary, Al-Hamdulillah.

I’ve tried to find out about how long we’ll be here but they don’t know. They (prison officials) have mentioned that they think we aren’t going back to Marion, and Allah knows best.  Anyways, from what I’ve heard is that Marion CMU is supposed to be a temporary “program” place or something, where after a period of time, they transfer the prisoners somewhere else.  May Allah, our Rabb, put us in a place much better than Marion.

Indeed, He is the best of the Hakimin, Judges, Hasbiyallahi wa Ni’mal Wakil.

Al-Hamdulillah, here Allah has given me much time to read the Quran.  Don’t send me any books- I don’t know how long I will be here, so wait until later, inshaAllah.  May Allah, our Rabb, take us out of this place and bring us to a place much better than this, sooner and swiftly.  Indeed my Rabb is Qareeb Mujeeb.  Give my salams to everyone.

Wa Salamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu

Ehsanul Sadequee: May 6, 2012 (Sudden Departures)

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Al hamdulillahi Rabbil ‘Alamin

As Salaamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu

Dear Amma, Abba and Family,

I hope and ask Allah that you all are doing good by His Ni’mah. Al-hamdulillah, I’m doing good by the Grace of Allah. How is everybody?

I am currently writing to you from Greenville, Illinois, FCI, where I am in SHU (solitary confinement) waiting transfer. They brought me and another Muslim from the Marion-CMU over here on Friday, May 4, 2012.

At Marion, the warden and her crew became paranoid over some minor issues. They decided to put a Muslim in the SHU, and then the next day another, and then another the next day, and another the next day. And on the fourth day, they “deported” me and three other Muslims. So , they put at least three Muslims in the SHU and “deported” me and four Muslims, including myself. I am the only one in the SHU right now [in the new facility]. This is as far as I know, I don’t know what’s happened after Friday. Wallahul Musta’an.

Al-hamdulillah, everything is okay. I got a mushaf and am reading Quran, in preparation for the month of Ramadan.

Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the Best Wakil, Disposer of Affair.

HasbunAllahu wa Ni’maail-Wakil.

Al-Hamdulillah Rabbil ‘Alamin, the affairs all return to Allah, and He Alone is in charge. He is our Guardian and Friend, and He supports the righteous.

Keep me in your Du’a. Give everyone my salaams.

May Allah, tabaraku wa’ta’ala, deliver us and all the oppressed Muslims from the oppressors, by His own Ni’mah and Fadl. And may He united us with our families and the believers in this world and in the Al-Jannat. May Allah bless you all and rectify all your affairs and grant you success in the duniya and the Hereafter.

Wal-Hamdulillahi Rabbil Alamin
Was Salamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuhu

Wallahu A’lam.

Was-Salam Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh. wal-Hamdu Lillahillathi Bi Ni’matihi Tatimmus-Salihat.

Ehsanul Sadequee: November 11, 2011 (Some Sahih and Hasan Adiyah)

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim al-HamduLillah Rabbil Alamin, and peace and blessings be on the Last Prophet, and his family and all those who follow him till the Last Day.

As-Salam Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh,

‘Eid Mubarak to all of you brothers and sisters. I apologize for the delayed letter, I was hoping to translate a section of Du’as from Sahih Al-Jami’ As-Saghir and send the entire section at once, but I wasn’t able to finish in time, so I will InSha’Allah send it to you in installments, with the Help of Allah. Al-HamduLillah I am fine by the Ni’mah, Fadl and Rahmah of Allah, and I hope in Him that you are all doing good by His Tawfeeq.

I decided to translate some of the sahih/hasan du’as that I found, that are not in the Hisn Al-Muslim; some of the Du’as I’ve seen in other translated books of Du’as, but I did not know of their authenticity. InSha’Allah, I will include some here. I have come to notice that the « Sahih Al-Jami’ As-Saghir » copy I have, from Al-Maktab al-Islami, the 3rd Edition, 1408 H/1988 CE, has some typing mistakes, sometimes major. Wallahu A’lam. So perhaps someone can verify the translation with a better edition. May Allah accept this effort and bless it and make it beneficial for people, and success is only from Allah alone.

pg. 228-229:
Hadith # 979:«The Greatest Name of Allah, with which if He is invoked, He answers – is in three Surahs of the Qur’an: in Al-Baqarah, Ali Imran, and TaHa. »
– from Abu Umamah (ra); Sahih

# 980:
« The Greatest Name of Allah is in these two Verses: “And your Ilah (deity) is One Ilah (Deity), there is no Ilah (one worthy of being worshipped) except Him, Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim ” [Al-Baqarah], and the opening of Ali Imran “Alif Lam Mim. Allah, there is no Ilah but Him, Al-Hayy Al-Qayyoom.” »
– from Asma’ bint Yazid (ra); Hasan
pg. 269:
Hadith # 1250: « Adhere to (and frequently use in Du’a), « Ya Thal Jalali wal-Ikram » [O Owner of Majesty and Generosity]. »
– from Anas (ra); Sahih
pg. 270: Hadith # 1255:
« O Allah make the most spacious of Your rizq (provisions and sustenance) upon me (be) at my old age, and (at) the end of my life. »
– from ‘A’ishah (ra), Hasan
# 1256:
« O Allah, place in Madinah twice the blessing (barakah) You have placed in Makkah. »
– from Anas (ra), Sahih

InShAllah, I will send more later, do not forget us from your Du’as, and give our Salams to all the brothers and sisters, Eid Mubarak.

Was-Salam Alaykum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh. Wal-Hamdu Lillahillathi Bi Ni’matihi Tatimmus-Salihat.

Ehsanul Sadequee: March 10, 2011 (The Zikr of Allah)

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim, wal-Hamdu Lillahi Rabbil Alamin, and may Allah send the greatest and best peace and blessings and salutations upon the Last Prophet Muhammad, and his family.

By the grace of Allah, I am doing well. I ask Allah, Zul Jalal wal-Ikram, that He keeps you all in good Eeman and health. I will In Sha’Allah, share with you two narrations about two zikr prayers, from Hisn Al-Muslim (Fortress of the Muslim):

1) It is reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said [meaning approximately]:

“There are two statements which are light on the tongue, heavy in the scale, and beloved to Ar-Rahman (The Lord of Grace, Most Compassionate): “SubhanAllahi wa Bi Hamdihi, SubhanAllahil ‘Azeem” {apprx. trans. – “Perfect and Glorious is Allah, and with His Praise, Perfect and Glorious is Allah, the Tremendous.” (Bukhari and Muslim).

And in a narration Muslim, whoever says 100 times in the morning and evening, “SubhanAllahi wa Bi Hamdihi”, none will bring better than him on the Day of Resurrection, except one who says similarly, or more than him.

2) It is narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said [approximately meaning]:

Whoever says “La Ilaha IllAllah Wahdahu La shareeka lahu, Lahul Mulku wa Lahul Hamdu, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in Qadeer” {apprx. trans. – There is none worthy of being worshipped except Allah, Alone, He has no partner, to Him belongs the Kingdom, and to Him belongs the Praise, and He is Capable over everything.) and – 100 times a day, will receive reward equal to freeing 10 slaves, 100 good deeds will be written for him, and 100 sins will be erased, and will be a protection for him from shaytan for that day until evening, and none will bring better than him on the Day of Resurrection, except he who did it more. (Bukhari and Muslim). Read the rest of this entry »

Haris Ahmed: December 12, 2009

I am writing a short letter to express my gratitude to Allah that my conviction and the conviction of my friend and “co-defendant” Ihsan ul Islam Sadeque served to expose the hypocrisy and injustices of the so called “American Justice” for anyone who has eyes to see, brain to think and intellect to comprehend.

We were originally charged with [the] same 4 count indictment for essentially the same set of actions. Since I wanted to present my own closing argument, which the judge presiding over our case would not allow, fearing I may attempt to bring in “in-admissible evidence” in front of the jury, I chose to have a bench trial and forgo the “right” to a jury trial to be able to present my own closing statement. But apparently it made the job of the prosecutors easy and they were pleased enough to bring to court for the trial, only one out of those 4 counts. After the judge convicted me of the “crime,” I face 15 years in jail. Yet brother Ihsan chose to exercise his right, which is enshrined in the “holy book” of America – its Constitution – of having a jury trial. But since it is more difficult to convince 12 ordinary citizens to unanimously vote a person guilty as compared to a person who is part of the same system, the prosecutors punished him by trying him for all 4 counts.
