…and I’m not a Terrorist.
A Public Meeting on the Unjust Extradition of British Citizens to the United States
Hello, My name is Ahsan… And I’m not a terrorist.
Syed Talha Ahsan, born in London in 1979, has been detaineed in the UK for the past six years without charge. A graduate with first class honours, Talha, like computer expert Gary McKinnon, has been diagnosed with asperger’s syndrome.
In 2006, Talha was arrested at the request of the United States. He has been in prison ever since, without charge or trial, resisting extradition to solitary confinement, among other inhumane conditions, in the United States. Talha has never been to the United States and has neither friends nor relations there. Additionally, Talha has never been arrested or questioned by British Police.
Talha, and his co-defendant, Babar Ahmad, as well as computer geek Gary McKinnon, and student Richard O’Dwyer, are among a handful of British citizens fighting the unjust extradition to the United States. Their cases have sparked widespread condemnation and outrage, and have been as described “ludicrous” by the president of the liberal democrat party, Tim Farron, and “absolutely ridiculous” by the now-grown children of Eileen Clark, who is to be extradited for allegedly “kidnapping” her own children 15 years ago.
Talha and others now face extradition within a few months since the European Court recently refused to block the order to render them to the United States.
Logic would dictate that UK citizens accused of crimes that were allegedly committed in the UK, should be tried in the UK on the basis of evidence, open to challenge and scrutiny in British courts.
We want to stop the extradition of UK citizens and instead have justice served in the courts of the UK. Join us in this lofty endeavor:
