the aseerun project
The aseerun project is a compilation of many years of effort on the part of various NGOs and individuals to document and bring attention to the policy of abuse and denigration during inhumane, more than often illegal, incarceration applied in the name of freedom, counter-terrorism or democracy.
The site and its various components appeals to humanity on three levels:
Awareness
The informative resources of past and ongoing atrocities against prisoners of the so-called ‘War on Terror,’ continuously expanded upon, serve the purpose of precipitating enlightenment, dialogue, and igniting indignation within the global community.
Advocacy
Equipped with the knowledge, tools, and passion for justice, the aseerun project hopes that the people will be moved to take action, politically challenging and socially supportive, as well as to create and broaden the scope of the discussion on human rights in general and more specifically prisoner rights.
Art
The expression of the oppressed through many mediums, both modern and classical, bridges the intellectual gap between the ideological discourse of prisoner rights and the human reality of suffering. This art is simultaneously the mechanism of documentation, coping, healing, and often the sole method of communication with the outside world, if and when they are allowed such liberties.

All praises and thanks are due to Allah, the Most Merciful, Most Compassionate and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His Messenger Muhammad (saw).
We at muslimprisoners.com have launched this new and innovative website to help us all write to Muslims in UK prisons. All you need to do is write a general letter, addressing the brothers and sisters in prison, showing your support, concern and willingness to help them and their families in their time of great stress and anxiety. You can also share with them any knowledge you may have gained about Islam to benefit them, insha Allah.
All you need to do is write a letter and send it as an attachment to our email address: letters@muslimprisoners.com. We will then print out your letter, address it to the 60 Muslims in UK prisons [brothers letters going to brothers and sisters letters going to sisters] and then post it out free of charge. If the letters are written by a family e.g. husband & wife then we will post the letters to all the brothers and sisters on our list. Once the brothers and sisters reply to your letter we will then up load it on http://www.muslimprisoners.com. Insha allah.
If you put your own address on the letter then that is you prerogative – by doing so you can receive direct replies to your letter. However, if you do not wish to provide your own address, then we will be more than willing to adopt that responsibility and use our own address to allow the brothers and sisters in prison to reply to your letter, insha Allah.
You can support the brothers and sisters in prison financially by donating money, postal orders and postal stamps by addressing your letter (with your donation enclosed) to any individual Muslim in prison yourselves. We do not deal with money ourselves, but we can advise on how to give the prisoners money insha Allah
You can find the individual names and addresses of the brothers and sisters in prison on the website, insha allah. If you would like more information or wish to do more to help the brothers and sisters in prison, please leave your questions, comment or suggestions on our website insha allah.
If you wish to speak to us directly you can call Abu Muhsina on 07801 955 014.
May Allah bless you all for your efforts, ameen

The following poem is from my forthcoming manuscript in multiple voices concerning the US invasion of Iraq, Every Seed of the Pomegranate. You have my permission to publish it. David Sullivan
Inside/Outside the Wire, Guantanamo
A Styrofoam cup
cut by a torn nail’s crescent—
indent’s arabesque—
holds a single poem,
liquid contents drained, no name.
Neighboring cellmates
already know him:
Shaikh Abdurraheem Dost.
One reads the scratched script,
hands it down the line.
So a few words make their rounds
until guards catch on,
confiscate what might
endanger security
with some secret code,
use it for their butts,
toss it on that day’s trash heap.
At a city dump
a man, foraging,
brings it to his Muslim friend.
Together they read:
Do you call this spring?
Where are the flowers? Why this
miserable air?
So flat a complaint.
Those who attempt suicide
are engaging in
manipulative
self-injurious behavior
the manual says.
What have those officials
turned from to sleep so soundly?
Petals clot the ground.

We have contacted our brothers and sisters in Pakistan regarding these issues, of which we are aware. We are currently awaiting to hear more from them. It is best to inquire from those Believers in the region who are active in this field and see how we can best help and what they advise. Please feel free to contact us regarding this or other issues and campaigns or affairs at: al.aseerun@gmail.com

Dear Asserun.org
As Salamu’Alaikum wa Rahmatullahe wa Barakatahu,
We did it for Babar, now why are we not doing it for Shaker?
Is it is because the government snubbed our 140,000 signatures?
Those who expected that our signatures would free Babar overnight had misplaced hopes. Our hopes rest only with Allah Almighty as instructed to Ibn Abbas by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) he says:
Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) said: One day, I was behind the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) so he said to me: “O young man, I am going to teach you some words. Be mindful of Allah, and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah, and you will find Him facing you. If you ask, then ask of Allah. If you seek aid, then seek aid in Allah. Know that if the entire nation were to gather in order to benefit you with something, they could not benefit you with anything except with that which Allah has written for you. And if the entire nation were to gather in order to harm you with something, they could not harm you with anything except with what Allah has written against you. The pen has been lifted and the pages have dried.”[at-Tirmidhi]
Is it because we have become despondent?
Becoming despondent and losing hope is not the practice of Muslims as the Almighty states in His Majestic Book.
“And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?” (Surah al-Hijr:56)
And
“So do not become weak, nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) if you are indeed (true) believers.” [Surah alImran :139]
Is it because we have tired from the previous campaign?
Surely logging online and signing a petition is not exhaustive work. It takes more effort to comb one’s hair then to sign Shakers petition. And you know very well that Allah Almighty loves the deeds that are small but continuous
“The most beloved of deeds according to Allah are the continuous ones, even if they are little.” [Agreed upon].
Imam Shafi’ee famously stated:
“All humans are dead except those who have knowledge. And all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds. And those who do good deeds are deceived, except those who are sincere. And those who are sincere are always in a state of worry.” Imam Ash-Shaafi’ee
Let us no fit the description of ‘And all those who have knowledge are asleep, except those who do good deeds.’
So what is the message that we as a community want to send to the oppressors – that were are community of emotional knee-jerk reactions, or a community of principle and continuity?
What did we achieve from the last campaign?
We proved to the Ummah that British Muslims DO act against injustice, DO NOT abandon their oppressed and DO believe with certainty in the saying of the Noble Prophet:
“Do not be envious of other Muslims; do not overbid at auctions against another Muslim; do not have malice against a Muslim; do not go against a Muslim and forsake him; do not make an offering during a pending transaction. O’ servants of Allah, be like brothers (or sisters) with each other. A Muslim is the brother (or sister) of another Muslim; do not hurt him (or her), or look down upon him (or her) or bring shame on him (or her). Piety is a matter of heart (The Prophet (SAW) repeated this thrice). It is enough evil for a person to look down upon his Muslim brother (or sister). The blood, property and honour of a Muslim is inviolable to a Muslim.” (Muslim)
And
“One who helps a fellow Muslim in removing his (or her) difficulty in this world, Allah will remove the former’s distress on the Day of Judgement. He who helps to remove the hardship of another, will have his difficulties removed by Allah in this world and in the Hereafter. One who covers the shortcomings of another Muslim, will have his faults covered up in this world and the next by Allah. Allah continues to help a servant so long as he goes on helping his own brother (or sister).” (Muslim)
We showed Baber and his family that the loss and suffering of EVERY Muslim family is a loss for the entire community
We proved to the American and British government that the Muslim community has had enough of division and fear
We silenced all those who mocked us as a divided and disorganised people with no value for their own blood.
We did it for Baber, why are we not doing it for Shaker?
I am certain that Shaker Aamer in Guantanamo Bay has his hopes with Allah Almighty only, but Allah has always twinned His Aid with the effort of the believer.
“Do you think that you will enter Paradise without any trials
while you have known the examples of those who passed away before you?
They were afflicted with suffering and adversity
and were so violently shaken up that even
the Messenger and the believers with him cried out:
“When will Allah’s help come?”
(Then they were comforted with the words)
Be aware! Allah’s help is ever close.
[Al-Baqarah - 2:214]
If you have understood the point – then do not procrastinate:
>Visit and sign the petition
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/29410
>Forward this message to your friends and family
>Mobilise your efforts again and start work on the campaigns that you heroically launched for Babar. Babar had a family to support and lead his campaign – Shaker has a young family needs YOU to lead his campaign.
Remember:
Abu Hurayrah (radi Allahu anhu) said that the Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever removes a grief from a believer from amongst the sorrows of this life, Allah will remove a grief from him amongst the sorrows of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever brings ease to one in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this life and the Hereafter. Whoever covers a Muslim, Allah will cover him in this life and the Hereafter. Allah is in aid of the servant so long as the servant is in aid of his brother…. (Muslim)
May Allah Aid and assist you in all your affairs and multiply your deeds according to your intentions and efforts.
Was-Salamu’Alaikum
